Microsclerotherapy is performed by injecting a sclerosant solution directly into the veins using a very fine needle. The sclerosant solution causes irritation to the lining of the veins, so that they swell and stick together, thereby preventing blood flow through them. The vein wall becomes non-viable and your bodies repair system recognises this.
Each vein may need several injections, given some weeks apart. Many different veins can be injected in one treatment session.
Over the few months following the treatment your body gradually removes the old vein wall, thus causing the veins to fade from view. Blood then flows through the nearby healthy vessels.
